There are several things coming up that we want to tell you about and ask that you pray with us.

Book Publish

At last the book has left the presses!!  Praise the Lord!  Already a number of church leaders have purchased copies of the book and are calling to ask for more.  The elders have also had the opporutnity to talk to groups about biblical church leadership.  Danny will be going to a pastoral retreat of the Evangelical Free Church leaders here in Venezuela November 16-18 to present an outline of the book.  They are interested in hearing more.  Pray that God would use this book to help churches in Latin America to understand and institute eldership in their local churches.

International Mission Committee

The committee met at the Maiquetia Airport in Caracas.  We talked about how we could best help the churches get more involved in the Transcultural Mission, both among the indigenous here and internationally.  We made several decisions: 1) We renamed the committe the AMO Missionary Agency.  Our main goal is to help church in their endeavor to send missionaries and promote the transcultural mission endeavor. 2) We are printing an 8-page booklet with information given at the Forum in February, 2006 and the Congress in May, 2007.   Pray that God stir up the transcultural mission vision among the churches.

Rodolfo Oliveros and Danny travelled to Salamanca, Spain from October 1-15.  Mark Johnson, a former TEAM-Venezuela missionary who now serves in Madrid, had set up their itinerary.  They met with several people in Madrid, before going on to Salamanca for 4 days.  There they met with pastorss from three churches and with the leaders of a ministry to university students at the world-famous University of Salamanca They were very encouraged, and felt a real affinity with the elders of the Brethern Church, which is the oldest church there (they just celebrated 75 years!!).  Danny and Rodolfo also went to Tarragona to talk with pastors and leaders of FIEIDE, an organization of churches with which TEAM works in Spain.  They have now given their report to the elders here in Maturin, and they are considering what action to take regarding the planting of churches.  Pray that God will give all of us who go a clear sense of His will concerning sending missionaries to Salamanca.

Maracaibo Church

As followup to Danny and Rodolfo's visit to the Good Shepherd Church in Maracaibo, the elders invited the pastor, Dubin Soto, to Maturin to receive intensive training in Biblical interpretation and counseling.  Dubin reports that the enthusiasm has not diminished.  The church has grown a little, and more and more of the members are being discipled and trained.  We are also planning a week of evangelism during Holy Week, 2008.  The Dios es Amor church network will send about 50 or 60 people to help with evangelism and followup.  Pray for the Good Samaritan Evangelical Church, that they can become an established church, and their pastor, Dubin Soto and the establishing team that will be working with him.

Muslim Ministry

There is a new phenomena occuring in Venezuela.  It has two parts: the Venezuelan church is beginning to realize that it can reach Muslims with the Gospel in other countries, and Muslims are coming to Venezuela.  The young lady that went from the church to study in Spain has now returned, and her enthusiam is contagious.  A number of people have expressed their desire to prepare themselves to evangelize the Muslims.  She is now preparing seminars that will be given, and later a ministry team will be formed.   Pray that God will help the church begin a successful Muslim outreach here in Maturin.
