I have been working mainly in developing leaders the 16 years we have lived here. After teaching several modules at Las Delicias Bible Institute from 1991-94, the Institute closed. God made us change our way of preparing leaders. Since 1995, we have advocated the training of leaders in the context of the local church. We focus on three areas as seen in Figure 1:
I have helped prepare materials that are being used by a number of our association churches to give their leaders the preparation they need. For example, during the last 12 years we have started 5 new churches and have trained all the workers that are in leadership for those churches. This is a high priority for us. The future of the Venezuelan church depends on these efforts.
For the last year I have been coordinating an effort to help the two church organizations with which TEAM works to focus more on the sending of Venezuelan missionaries to other countries, an effort we call the "international mission". Two churches in the east are actively preparing to send missionaries: one to Tenerife, Canary Islands, and the other (our church, Dios es Amor) to Salamanca, Spain.
